I was thinking about tattoos today, and I decided that if I ever feel the need to get one, it will have to be the Bible citation of one of my favorite verses.
Likely candidates:
"Be still, and know that I am God." Psalms 46:10
"If God is for us, who can be against us?" Romans 8:31
Always uplifting messages :) at least for myself.
Another one of my favorites is 1 Corinthians 6:12 ("Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.), which I have actually seen tattooed on a girl's foot...I was standing in line at Fruit Sensations in KOP and happened to look down. It definitely caught my eye, and since at the time I didn't know the verse, bothered me all day until I went home and looked it up. Pretty cool, in my opinion.
Anyhow, I don't find fault in getting tattoos...the whole Christian debate on it seems to point to one thing: if you want a tattoo, make it glorifying, with a purpose. Sure a heart or dove or peace sign would be neutral and not hurtful, but in the long run, what real significance does it hold?
Just some food for thought. I think I would seriously consider getting a tattoo if I could find just one verse that I thought everyone should constantly be reminded of, that constantly convicts me.
I totally wrote my research paper thing on the old/new testament with the conclusion that Jesus is pretty indifferent to tattoos and piercings. and I got my nose pierced! :P Yeah, you better make sure that you want that tattoo on you forever, even when you're 3456783645 years old and it becomes a wrinkly mess of skin. They're just...too permanent. but if you get a Bible verse, get the first one you posted.
